Interview with Mrs. Jungeblodt
1. How did you get the idea to organize the exchange with Colyton Grammar School?
I have always wanted to participate in an exchange. Furthermore I took part in a French exchange when I was a pupil getting the chance to experience how fascinating it is to get to know to another family or rather another culture and give my French language skills a try.
2. How often have you organized the England exchange so far?
Already three times. The fourth exchange is coming up at the end of this school year in July and September 2012.
3. Do you always stay with different host families or do you have a "standard host family"?
For the first time, I was accommodated in Steffi Hudson’s house, who is a Maths teacher at Colyton. But since then I was lucky to be able to stay with Tim Love and his family.
4. What has been the best trip in England so far?
I really enjoy walking to the sea, like the school hike from Colyton along the sea coast to "Beer", a small village, as well as the trip by bus to "Weymouth".
5. Have you ever lost one of your pupils?
No, luckily I haven‘t.
6. What do you like most about the exchange?
It is really exciting to see how the exchange partners get to know each other during three weeks they spend together. Furthermore I like it when the German pupils experience England, e.g. with the typical English food or at school attending or even participating in an assembly.
7. What could be improved in the exchange in your opinion?
I’d like to intensify the relationship between the exchange partners by organizing activities where you experience something together.
8. How do you assess the relation between the German and English pupils?
I think they get on very well. Unfortunately only very few exchange partners manage to keep in touch after participating in the exchange.
9. What do you think about the partnership with Colyton Grammar School?
The cooperation is really good and faithful.
10. Do you think that the exchange results in a better command of English and more openness for other cultures?
The exchange definitely improves the pupils’ language skills under the condition that he or
she isn’t too shy to take advantage and speak as much as possible.
